The purpose of this competency is to achieve the goals of requirements management, i.e. to:
- ensure that all relevant stakeholders have the opportunity to express their wants and needs;
- reconcile multiple stakeholder requirements to create a single viable set of objectives;
- achieve stakeholder consensus on a baseline set of requirements.
Performance criteria You must be able to: |
| Determining requirements is the first step to determining the complexity of the work but the basic performance criteria are equally applicable to simple and complex contexts. If the requirements are anticipated to be particularly complex it may be appropriate to specify performance of particular techniques such as value management although care should be taken to follow this through into other aspects of scope management and control. It may also be appropriate to address the need to assemble and manage specialists in the field of requirements management. Where there are multiple stakeholders with potentially differing views on requirements it may be appropriate to include elements of influencing, negotiation and conflict management in the knowledge criteria. |
